FBC REBOOT
Reopening Plan
The leadership of First Baptist Church is unalterably committed to the mission of the Gospel and the wellbeing of our church family. We have wrestled diligently with how to pursue both during this pandemic crisis.
We were planning to reopen indoor public services earlier this year, but the county health department returned to Phase 2 regulations, which led several churches that had opened to close back down again. We did not feel it was wise to open at that time.
In addition to the Phase 2 setback, providing online live-stream services for both “traditional” and “contemporary” preferences and, at the same time, conducting an in-person service in our Worship Center is a technological nightmare, one that has required a lot of planning, purchasing, and preparing. What is more, offering a single, in-person service limited to 100 for a church family of our size is hardly adequate.
So, having worked through all the issues, and under current county health regulations, we are pleased to announce that First Baptist Church is ready to re-open for public worship gatherings in a variety of ways, in addition to an in-person service in our Worship Center on Sunday mornings
WATCH GROUPS
Sundays
8:45am – Traditional worship – Gym
8:45am – Contemporary worship – Rm 102/103
10:30am – Contemporary worship – Gym
These gatherings will be facilitated by live hosts and other support personnel, but the worship music and sermon will be watched via live-stream on screens.
Until we see how attendance patterns emerge, we will have 3 Watch Groups on Sunday mornings.
FBC GATHERING
Thursdays
6pm in the Gym
This service is a fully-live, in-person service that is 60 minutes in length and will generally follow the more informal format of the outdoor services held this last summer in the church’s amphitheater—live worship music, brief devotional, group prayer, personal stories and testimonies.
If the weekly demand for this evening gathering exceeds 100, we will start more on other days of the week.
IN PERSON SERVICE
Coming Soon
10:30am – “in-person” Contemporary worship – worship center
This service will feature “contemporary” worship music and a full-length sermon.
If consistent demand requires, we may offer another in-person service, possibly on Saturday evenings.
