Support Group for Caregivers
Memory & More
This Renewal Ministry offering is specifically designed for those who care for people with permanent and progressive memory loss, predominantly due to Alzheimer’s disease and other types of memory loss. We offer a unique setting with a support group for the caregivers who look out for their loved ones.
Julie Brown, one of the facilitators of this group, has many years of experience in working with seniors. She recently cared for her husband who suffered from memory loss, before his passing. This inspired her to pursue a group like this in the community of Christ-followers. There was one in the community, but they were not allowed to speak about spiritual issues and biblical encouragement and concerns. This seemed untenable as she watched her own husband as well as the loved ones of others not being able to speak of or look for strength in a community who considers relationship with Jesus a vital part of walking through this process.
Experience has shown that there’s a limited time a care receiver can be away from those who care for them, so meetings will be only one hour long in order to unite caregivers with care receivers in a timely fashion.
Meets the 2nd Thursday of each month (no class in August)
10:00 – 11:00am, The Garden Room
